Cork and Forest
Commitment to nature. Commitment to the future.
Cork is one of the most sustainable materials in the world, the result of a unique balance between nature, tradition and innovation. Extracted from the cork oak (Quercus suber), cork is obtained without cutting down the tree, in a natural regeneration process that is repeated over decades, making it a renewable, recyclable and truly environmentally friendly raw material.
The cork oak woodland, a characteristic ecosystem of Portugal, is much more than a forest. It is one of the world's most important biodiversity habitats, comparable to other major global ecosystems, where hundreds of species of fauna and flora coexist.
In addition to its ecological richness, the montado plays a fundamental role in combating climate change. These forests have the capacity to sequester millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide, actively contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases and the improvement of air quality.
Cork extraction, carried out periodically and without damaging the cork oak, ensures the preservation of this ecosystem and promotes a sustainable relationship between economic activity and the environment.
It is in this context that our estates in the Alentejo and the Algarve are situated, regions where the montado defines the landscape and local culture. Here, we manage natural resources responsibly, ensuring soil conservation, protection against desertification and the continuity of a unique heritage.
The direct connection to our estates allows us to follow the entire cork cycle, from tree to stopper, ensuring quality, traceability and absolute respect for nature.
Choosing cork stoppers means opting for a natural, renewable product with a positive impact on the planet. It is to value a resource that preserves ecosystems, supports local communities and contributes to a more sustainable future.

Solar Panels
Emissions reduction
In our production facility, we reinforce our commitment to sustainability on a daily basis through the use of solar panels, which allow us to generate clean energy and significantly reduce our environmental footprint.
By investing in renewable energy sources, we reduce the carbon emissions associated with the production process, contributing to a more responsible cork industry that is aligned with current environmental challenges.
This is another concrete step in our mission to combine tradition, innovation and respect for nature — from the montado to the final cork.
